Messi-less Inter Miami Triumphs Over Chicago 2-1, Extends MLS Lead

Inter Miami secured their 16th victory in 25 games, elevating them to 53 points. Jordi Alba's decisive goal in the 75th minute clinched a 2-1 home win over Chicago Fire on Saturday. This victory extended their lead atop the MLS standings, even without the injured Lionel Messi.

Inter Miami's 16th win brought them to 53 points, five points clear of second-placed FC Cincinnati, who suffered a 3-1 defeat to New York Red Bulls. Paraguayan midfielder Matias Rojas opened the scoring for Miami in the sixth minute. Chicago's Saudi-born German defender Rafael Czichos equalized in the 73rd minute, but former Spain star Jordi Alba secured the win two minutes later.

In New York, Cincinnati was stunned by two goals from Scottish midfielder Lewis Morgan, flanking defender Kyle Duncan's strike, leaving the Red Bulls with a 3-0 lead by the 59th minute. Corey Baird netted a consolation goal for Cincinnati in the 67th minute.

A hat trick from Philadelphia's Daniel Gazdag propelled the Union to a 3-0 victory over visiting Nashville. Gazdag scored in the 10th, 39th, and 89th minutes, keeping Philadelphia one point behind Atlanta for the final Eastern playoff spot.

Norwegian defender Stian Gregersen's double in the 60th and 77th minutes helped Atlanta United come from behind to defeat Columbus 2-1 at home. Canadian midfielder Richie Laryea's 38th-minute goal gave Toronto a 1-0 win at Montreal.
