The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has officially appointed Manolo Marquez as the new head coach of the Indian men’s football team. Marquez, 55, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of Indian football, having coached national team players, especially young talents.
Currently, he is the head coach of FC Goa in the Indian Super League (ISL). Regarding the appointment, AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey thanked FC Goa for their cooperation and stated, "We are delighted to welcome Mr. Marquez to this crucial role. His expertise will be invaluable as we aim for great achievements in the coming years."
During the 2024-25 season, Marquez will juggle his responsibilities as head coach of FC Goa while gradually transitioning to his full-time national coaching duties. Marquez remarked, "It’s an honor to be the national team coach of India, a country I deeply connect with. I am committed to bringing success to the millions of football fans in India. I’m thankful to FC Goa for allowing me the flexibility to support the national team."
Marquez’s tenure in India began in 2020, initially with Hyderabad FC, where he led the team to an ISL Cup victory in the 2021-22 season. His coaching career in Spain includes stints with Las Palmas in the top division and various other clubs.
